I’ve found that, when it comes down to it, the best measure of your success as a copywriter is how often you compel people to:
- Get up from their desk
- Go get their wallet
- Pull out their credit card
- Type in all 16 digits of that credit card number, plus expiry, plus security code
- After all that, hit the “Place Order” button
In the startup world, those same conversions are sometimes less about credit cards and more about sign ups – but the idea is the same. How do I know? Because I read tons… and, more importantly, I’ve been there!
In the past few years, I’ve co-founded 3 startups, one of which is now defunct (boo), the other of which is alive and thriving – Page99Test.com – and the third of which is (hopefully) going to get off the ground soon.
I’ve been through the pain and awesomeness of desperately seeking followers and users.
